3 Things We Learned from Wednesday S1E3

Posted on January 10, 2023January 10, 2023 By Yaseen

1. The monster is human.

I know this seems like a repeat from the first episode, but it was only ever implied that the monster was human up until this point. Wednesday and other characters learning that the monster is human makes the hunt much more interesting than if they were just hunting some creature. The writers have already begun playing games with Weems and Xavier marked as suspicious characters to the point that they seem too obvious.

2. Ms. Thornhill is up to something.

It certainly seemed like there’s something going on between Ms. Thornhill and the mayor when they were officially introduced to eachother by Weems. Then Wednesday is allowed to roam the woods by herself and wreak havoc on the outreach event even though Thornhill’s supposed to be keeping a close eye on her. And if that wasn’t enough, Thornhill makes her way to the secret Nightshades hall in the middle of the night. To quote Wednesday paraphrasing Agatha Christie: “one coincidence is just a coincidence, two are a clue, and three are proof.”

3. The Addams family has deep roots in Jericho.

In a weird turn of events, the Addams are Native Americans? They were among those persecuted by Joseph Crackstone when he and his pilgrims first settled in Jericho. Wednesday’s visions take her back to 1625 when Goody, Wednesday’s ancestor, manages to escape Crackstone’s cruelty. That’s quite a bit of trouble to go through to establish a character’s motives…
