House of the Dragon S1E5 Power Rankings

Posted on September 21, 2022September 28, 2022 By Yaseen

1. King Viserys Targaryen

Despite his rapidly declining health, Viserys was able to solidify Rhaenyra’s position as heir by securing her marriage to Laenor. But he mainly keeps top spot because no one under him has done enough to knock him off his perch.

2. Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen

Rhaenyra remains in second place thanks to the aforementioned marriage to Laenor as well as her newfound sense of responsibility.

3. Lord Corlys Velaryon

Corlys moves up a spot for the same reason Viserys and Rhaenyra kept their spots.

4. Laenor Velaryon

See above.

5. Princess Rhaeyns Targaryen

And again…

6. Prince Daemon Targaryen

And just like that, Daemon bounces back again. His newly single status gives him an opportunity to secure an alliance to further his power. Laena seems the most likely option given the flirtation between the two. He also potentially stands to inherit the Runestones.

7. Lord Lyonel Strong

As the new Hand, Lyonel is possibly the only person the King fully trusts at the moment.

8. Queen Alicent Hightower

Alicent actually held her own after discovering Rhaenyra’s betrayal, but despite having her house’s support, she now finds herself more isolated than ever thanks to her father’s exile and her cold shoulder to the King.

9. Lady Laena Velaryon

Once again, Laena moves up by association. A marriage to Daemon could see her move up further.

10. Grand Maester Mellos

Rounding out the top 10 is Mellos who didn’t do anything of note this episode.

11. Tyland Lannister

No contribution.

12. Vaemond Velaryon

Just like in the last episode, Vaemond moves up by association.

13. Jason Lannister

Jason made his presence felt in the most Lannister way possible.

14. Lord Lyman Beesbury

No contribution.

15. Larys Strong

Larys moves up a few spots as a result of his burgeoning relationship with Alicent.

16. Ser Harwin Strong

It’s clear that Harwin is a good knight, but he also knows a bit about politics it seems.

17. Ser Otto Hightower

Otto’s in freefall after his exile. He was instantly replaced as Hand and life went on as if nothing happened.

18. Lord Hobert Hightower

Hobert moves down a spot by association.

19. Ser Criston Cole

I’ve been saying that Criston Cole’s position is precarious and it finally unraveled at the wedding feast. The only thing keeping him from complete free fall is Alicent’s interest/pity.

20. Lord Boremund Baratheon

No appearance.

20. Mysaria

No appearance.

20. Ceira Lannister

No appearance.

20. Ser Harrold Westerling

20. Ser Addam Velaryon

20. Howland Sharp

20. Lady Joselyn Redwyne

No appearance.

20. Samwell

No appearance.

20. Captain Randyll Barret

No appearance.

20. Septa Marlow

No appearance.

20. Ser Gwayne Hightower

No appearance.

20. Ser Desmond Caron

No appearance.

20. Ser Rymun Mallister

No appearance.

20. Lord Beric Dondarrion

No appearance.

20. Maester Orwyle

Tended to the King alongside Grand Maester Mellos.

36. Ser Gerold Royce of Runestone

Cousin to Lady Rhea Royce. Seeks to hold Daemon accountable for the Rhea’s death. Possibly set to lose the Runestones to Daemon.

N/A. Prince Aegon Targaryen

No appearance.

Dead

Joffrey Lonmouth

Literally got his head smashed in by Ser Criston Cole.

Lady Rhea Royce of the Vale

Paralyzed after falling off her horse then likely finished off by Daemon.

Craghas Drahar

Literally sliced in half by Daemon.

Prince Baelon Targaryen

Died a day after his birth. “Heir for a day.”

Queen Aemma Targaryen

Died during childbirth.

King Jaehaerys Targaryen

Died many years ago. Succeeded by King Viserys.
