1. Wednesday is human.
The opening sequences of the episode presented Wednesday as a freak, but the more we saw of her, the more human she became. She lost the fencing challenge to Bianca, had to be saved by Xavier, opened up to her therapist ever so slightly, connected with the likes of Tyler and Enid, and tried to save Rowan’s life. That’s a whole lot of emotion to be showing for a pale-faced “freak”…
2. The Addams family has a complicated history at Nevermore.
Morticia left her mark on Nevermore as a sort of over-achiever, but her history at the school is probably a little more complicated than she makes it out to be. That she dormed with Principal Weems is something to keep an eye on. Gomez Addams’ mark on Nevermore and to a wider extent, Jericho, is not as bright as his wife’s, as the sheriff believes that he should be in jail for murder. Wednesday’s already involved in some 25-year old prophecy that claims she will destroy the school, so she seems to be following in her parents’ footsteps.
3. The monster is an intelligent being.
The savagery of the killing may not indicate the presence of any some of intellect, but the monster’s other behavior sure does. There have been four isolated killings so far (including Rowan), so the monster is choosing their targets as opposed to going on a wild killing spree, which suggests that the monster is a being with intellect. The monster’s decision to leave Wednesday alone despite having just savagely murdered Rowan is further evidence of this.
